Ruff’ton Roots Community Garden Recognized as USDA’s People’s Garden

[Rutherfordton, N.C.] – Ruff’ton Roots Community Garden has been recognized as one of the USDA’s People’s Garden. People’s Gardens grow fresh, healthy food and support a resilient local food system; teach people how to garden using sustainable practices; and nurture habitat for pollinators and wildlife, and greenspace for neighbors to gather and enjoy.

“This recognition shines light on the commitment of our volunteers to the local community,” says Lindy Abrams, Garden Manager. “We are excited to continue benefiting the community by donating all of our harvests to food banks, incorporating sustainable practices, and educating the public about our local food system.”
